Alberto Barcia
Alberto Barcia (Tossa de Mar, Girona, Spain, 1982). It can be considered as an artist whose works, ink on paper, are made using a strong and impulsive feature. His way of work it is, in essence, a surreal nature, that try to enter inside distortions of the human being, in its most vulnerable aspects: emotions and feelings. Barcia’s works are not exempt from a certain perversion and wildness. His knowledge about the practice of illustration, allow him to offer a extremely psychological vision. The Freudian butterfly with reminiscences of childhood memories, the same as the ink-stained and folded sheet, better known as The Rorschach test, can be easily identifiable.
Abstraction i’s used without gestures and shapes, shown through a persistent expression of strange masses and corporeal ensembles, exhibiting an aesthetic methodology, of extreme, intense and unusual plasticity for a complex and careful performance. For all the above mentioned, a charismatic fascination it is produced when the artist works are observed.
Thanks to his autodidact Mitteleuropean education, Alberto Barcia also studied at La Llotja (Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny from Barcelona) specializing in illustration. His teacher was Luis Casado Cadarso, also an artist and founder of La Xina Art (Barcelona), an interdisciplinary project. Onother teacher was Xavier Canals, a visual poet and historian of visual poetry.
He has shown his works in a collective exhibition in China: “Art in context” (2020), being his first individual exhibition at the Reial Cercle Artístic of Barcelona, in September 2022, under the title: 25 Portraits
