DIALOGUES

COLECTIVA

CHEMA COBO, CARLOS FRANCO, FERRAN GARCÍA SEVILLA, XAVIER GRAU, VÍCTOR MIRA y SANTIAGO SERRANO

The artists shown on this occasion are representative artists of the history and of what the Miguel Marcos Gallery has represented up to now: Chema Cobo, Carlos Franco, Ferran García Sevilla, Xavier Grau, Víctor Mira, Santiago Serrano. It is precisely a matter of contrasting seemingly disparate artists in a way that establishes a dialogue between them. A dialogue that supposes a new way of seeing. It is like an epiphany of meaning: a strategy or methodology to discover new meanings that were implicit, but we did not know how to see. It is often said that painting is the art of silence. Well, when facing these artists, when establishing a game of oppositions between them, contents that previously went unnoticed and new meanings are discovered.

This dialogue of opposites is not a free association. There are many reasons that justify it. There are issues of cultural context, generation, etc. But among others there is a fundamental reason: these artists are fragments of a discourse on painting. To confront them represents expanding their discourses to a broader horizon that is none other than a reflection or a questioning about the meaning of painting.
